Who are we?

Clever Offsets™ is a carbon data company.   We analyze data in the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) to structure and index relevant information making it easily consumed by various stakeholders in the carbon markets.   We deliver the data to users through purpose built web applications.

Is Clever an exchange or a marketplace?

No.  Clever is not an exchange or a marketplace.  We do not facilitate carbon credits transactions or retirements.

When was Clever launched?

Clever was launched in 2021 and participated in the Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator in 2023.  Our first SaaS product, the Buyers Module, was launched in 2023, with special focus on project developers, traders and marketplaces, enabling them to discover buyers for their carbon credits.

How does the Buyers Module benefit project developers?

The Buyers Module provides insights into the Buyers preferences and purchase patterns.  We provide in-depth information on their preferred geographies, registries, types of credits and more.  You also know what the Buyers Preferences are today and how it has shifted over time.  In addition to all this, we provide filters and options in the platform, for you to get to the ideal list of buyers to reach out to.

What is the Unique Selling Proposition of the Buyers Module?

• UI: Our greatest USP is our simplicity.  Our user-interface is clean and fast.  We provide just the right  tools for you to find the information you need.  Our goal is for our customers to find what they need, when they need it, and exactly the way they need it.  Decision makers are swamped and just want answers; they don’t have time to learn a new tech ecosystem with useless bells and whistles.  Simple.  Clean.  Intuitive.  Clever.

• Customer Feedback: We believe in building products that our customers need and love.  Customer feedback is at the core of our product development process.  We build tools that empower our customers with information that eases their decision making process.  We even discard features that our customers don't use.

How do we list projects on the Buyers Module?

Information on all the projects in the Buyers Modules is derived from registries.  If a project is listed on a covered registry, it's on our platform.  Projects with zero credit issuance but with a listing on the registry would still be included in the Buyers Module.​

Is there a free trial of the Buyers Module?

Yes.  You can sign-up to the unlimited time free trial of the Buyers Module here.  In the trial version, you’ll have access to a limited dataset and you will not have access to all the sections of the Buyers Module.  Nonetheless, this is the largest free database of carbon market information in the world.  Clever is raising the floor of what’s possible within these markets.​

Can we use the Buyers Module to email Buyers?

No.  All communication with Buyers would have to be done outside the platform.  The Buyers Module is your research tool, which enables you to identify the right buyers and to find the relevant information about them.​

Does Clever buy VERs / CERs / Carbon Credits?

No.  Clever is not a buyer of carbon credits.  We only provide information about the markets, which helps improve liquidity, integrity, and transparency.

Does Clever provide data on RECs, Energy markets, or Compliance Markets?

No.  At this time, Clever only provides information on carbon credits in the VCM.  We do not provide information on RECs, Energy, or Compliance markets.

Who are your customers?

The Buyers Module primarily is used by some of the largest project developers to discover prospective buyers for their carbon credits, and by their traders, brokers, and marketplaces to access both the demand and the supply sides of the market.

Does Clever have other products besides the Buyers Module?

Clever has a suite of SaaS products built on our premium web app.  With two more products launching in 2026, our Enterprise Module is built for stakeholders such as bankers, financiers, insurers, and asset managers active in the carbon markets.  Reach out to us at success@cleveroffsets.com for more information.
