Three years ago, Rick was a maritime lawyer in New York City and Senior Executive for one of the top marine insurers in the world. The majority of his day was dedicated to making 7-figure decisions while managing litigation and responding to collisions and oil spills. Honed in that mature market, these skills combined with his interest for proactive ways to combat climate change led him to discover the impact, intricacies, and more importantly the inefficiencies of the carbon markets. Recognizing that inaccessible, fragmented, and inaccurate data was the main hindrance to getting projects funded and built, he and his business partner spent a year and a half researching and building the foundations of their carbon markets data platform. Then in August 2023, he was accepted into the Techstars program where he received his first injection of capital and invaluable guidance. Rick decided that the best way to deploy that capital was to hire a data manager to professionalize and scale data acquisition and to get people using the platform to ensure its development would be directly tied to user feedback. A year and a half later, with two more rounds of funding and a sleek premium product now available to clients, Rick leads a team of eight who all work to develop, refine, and promote Clever Offsets as the gold standard data solution for the carbon markets.
We welcomed Natallia Pashko to Clever as our new Product Manager. An operations virtuoso, before joining Clever, she was instrumental in the early development of our public platform during her tenure as a Project Manager at Paralect. In addition to supporting Clever, she is ambitiously pursuing her second degree in Global Environmental Studies at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. We are thrilled to have such a talented team dedicated to Clever's success and our company values.
When Clever was beginning to attain some gravitational pull, we knew we needed someone that understood how to make sense of massive and unruly data sets. With his academic background in natural resource management and experience with the carbon offsets market through the Environmental Defense Fund, our first choice was Randall. Lucky for us, he said yes and was equally passionate about solving issues stakeholders face when navigating the carbon markets. As Clever's Data Manager, Randall is on our front lines when taking in large sets of unstructured, sloppy data. He and his global team prepare the data for our Data Engineer and Developer by going above and beyond what scrapping and AI can do. His attention to detail and strategy for assembling data has made the quality of our platform a cut above the rest. While most people shy away from complexity Randall knows that "the more complicated data is to ingest, the more valuable we are to clients." Clever takes on messy data leaving behind a cleaner market and cleaner planet.

Our talented developer, Ilya, joined the Clever Team back in September 2024. After working closely with the rest of the team, he ensures our users have clean, sleek, and simple access to everything our data and product team are looking to implement. He is currently juggling working at Clever and finishing his computer science degree at Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. Before Clever, he began supporting various companies by writing scripts and moved on to Paralect. He enjoys the autonomy and trust that the rest of the team has given him and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
Ananth leads sales at Clever Offsets, driving growth through strategic client partnerships, market analysis, and effective stakeholder engagement. With over 5 years of experience in carbon markets and sustainability solutions, he combines commercial insight with the needs of both the buy and sell sides. His work ensures Clever’s platform provides measurable value to our clients by staying closely connected to their experience with our platform.
Alexandr is a Data Engineer at Clever Offsets. He designs and maintains the systems that power our platform’s accuracy and data ingestion. His primary contribution this year has been automating Clever’s data pipeline, which has enabled us to provide our clients with the most current information across multiple registries and sources. With a background in data architecture and process optimization, Alexandr’s work enables faster access to information and the high data integrity our clients rely upon when they use Clever’s platform.
